Each year, two prints are produced in tandem for Dave Bull’s Patreon supporters. Before being sent out, they are cut to create what Dave calls his "chibi prints." The format is based on the senshafuda (shrine tags), and the designs for these prints each year are made by John Amos. These are quaint little designs created using a limited palette, but as you can see, just a few colors can result in some charming prints.
These are not high art but are intended to show the broad application of the technique we call mokuhanga, which, at one point in history, was used to produce everything from Buddhist scriptures and books to candy wrappers, marketing materials, and, of course, high-end, beautifully elaborate museum works.
